Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) maximise the advertising potential of their trams by providing out-of-home (OOH) advertising space to other companies. This means they require frequent short-term branding solutions that are sustainable and easily removable, leaving no marks on the corporate branding beneath. The goal is to utilise trams for OOH advertising due to their vast reach, while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.
TfGM was looking for a branding company that could provide high-quality, eye-catching designs that would attract advertisers and engage the public. They needed a partner with the capability to handle large-scale projects efficiently, minimising downtime for their trams. Additionally, TfGM wanted a solution that aligned with their sustainability goals, using eco-friendly materials and processes.
One of the key pain points for TfGM was the need for temporary branding that could be easily removed without damaging the underlying corporate branding. They also faced challenges in coordinating the logistics of wrapping trams across their extensive network, requiring a partner with the installation capability to wrap onsite. Furthermore, TfGM needed assurance that the branding materials used would not only be durable but also recyclable at the end of their life cycle, supporting their environmental commitments.
We begin by agreeing on designs with TfGM, ensuring that each campaign's visual elements are impactful and aligned with the client's branding goals. Our in-house team handle high-quality, large-scale digital printing, allowing us to produce vibrant and eye-catching tram wraps.
The entire process of wrapping a tram is completed in just one day on-site, minimising downtime and making sure the trams can quickly return to service. We use our innovative bio-based vinyl, Biofilm, which is not only durable but also recyclable at the end of its life cycle, aligning with TfGM's sustainability objectives.
What is BioFilm? BioFilm is our innovative solution to temporary branding that doesn’t compromise environmental commitments. Made from 47% bio-based materials and PVC-free, it significantly reduces reliance on virgin fossil plastics to protect the carbon footprint. This bio-based material is derived from non-food source corn and is solvent-free, meaning it uses 80.9% less solvent compared to traditional vinyl. BioFilm is easily removed without the need for heat or chemicals, leaving no mark on the vehicle or wrap beneath, ensuring a clean and efficient removal process.
The results so far have been impressive, with eye-catching full wraps that capture the public's attention. Our ongoing partnership with TfGM has seen the completion of various wraps, including pride liveries for the Bee Network bus and tram and tram campaign liveries for companies such as Sale Sharks, Pepsi, Marks Electrical, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Our sustainable and recyclable solutions reinforce TfGM's commitment to responsible branding and the positive feedback from both TfGM and the public highlights the success of our collaborative efforts.
The flexibility and ease of removal of BioFilm have allowed TfGM to frequently update their tram wraps for different campaigns without any hassle. This has enabled them to keep their advertising fresh and relevant, attracting a diverse range of advertisers. The ability to quickly and efficiently change wraps has also minimised downtime for the trams, so they can remain in service and maximise their advertising potential.
The positive impact of our work is evident in the increased visibility and engagement of the campaigns, and we look forward to continuing to deliver high-quality, sustainable branding solutions for their future campaigns!
